"Believe it or not, Cinderella used to be my favorite story growing up. Until the fairytale ended with losing the man I loved most in this world (my dad died) when I was 15 years old. Taking care of myself is all I have ever known since then, and I hate when people act as if I should apologize for autonomy that came naturally to me. Over the course of 8 years of undergrad, grad, and professional life, I dated oodles of men, in addition to somehow managing to lose four (count 'em = 4) of the 6 greatest loves of my life. It is important to note that #5 never belonged to me in the first place, and #6 will continue as a treasured mystery. Nonetheless, I am not sure how Prince Charming will ever ride in on horseback if I continue to be afraid of both romantic commitment and animals.

Still I remain open to opportunities to finally maintain the appropriate balance of love and ambition, afterall I am a whiz at prioritizing, and with faith and work firmly planted at the core of who I am - what could be more important than carrying on the Callahan family/legacy that my granny instilled in me? But unless and until available, heterosexual, attractive, compatible, unintimidated, emotionally intelligent suitors present themselves, I guess I will remain married - only to my work. Tall packages seem to be a tall order these days and contrary to popular opinion, there are soft sides of me - you just have to earn the right to see them. Constantly multi-tasking at least 6 production/business teams and projects in entertainment and related fields, what can I say at this stage in the game besides: there are women who contemplate ideas other than chocolate, shopping, and monogamy. Sure you wanna know what it's like to spend a day in these shoes of mine breaking glass ceilings, climbing the status ladder one rung at a time..."

Diagnosis:
I do not know how you feel about it, but you were female in your last earthly incarnation.
You were born somewhere around territory of modern New Guinea approximately on 725.
Your profession was builder of houses, temples, cathedrals.
I don't have to like the things you like, and vice versa.

I try to avoid talking about politics and religion in public/to strangers. I believe those two subjects are both matters of personal conscience. I do not seek to influence you either politically or spiritually and do not appreciate it when you do not return that favor. What I do in the voting booth and in my place of worship are my own business. I am only responsible for me, expressing my experiences, and living my life in a way that may become exemplary for you.

If you're thinking about yourself the entire time I'm talking to you - chances are - you're not listening.

If you're voting for someone based on the color of their skin (tinted or not), isn't that discrimination in the end? It's funny how Black people and non-Black people both automatically presume that I am voting for the Black candidate. What does this say about our biases?
Skin color is no trump card for me. In the primaries, I supported the candidate who I believed had the most experience, for the job at hand, not the most rhetoric and charisma. The fact that my candidate got bullied out of the race personally showed me that sexism may just be stronger than racism in our world today. Wow.
I won't be voting for him or him because neither one of them represent or reflect me, but I will be praying for the state of this union.
Funny, everyone thinks we've lived to see this so-called ground-breaking election, when really no matter how it cuts, a white-haired white man will sthill be in the white house. Ha.
